01 / WORKFLOW

The whole foliage pipeline, in one place.

VirdraLeaf is built around a readable layer stack: resolve the silhouette, build the vein network, shape the material, then add the details that make it yours.

Build forward, not sideways.

Every stage feeds the next without flattening the source. Open a document weeks later and the recipe is still there.

The useful parts stay close to the surface.

A focused toolkit for artists who want control without turning every leaf into a one-off rescue mission.

Shape + venation

Start with broadleaf, needle, grass, or petal geometry. Tune blade proportions, apex, base, margin teeth, midrib, secondaries, tertiaries, and reticulate detail while the map result stays visible.

Material + surface

Layer base colour, gradients, pigment variation, translucency, roughness, height, normal, and micro-detail. Use masks and channel taps when a correction should land only where it matters.

Damage + seasons

Add holes, miner trails, galls, mildew, rust, stipple, and edge wear as authored layers. Then scrub the life timeline from fresh spring through summer, autumn, and dead tissue.

3D viewport + export

Preview the leaf as a deformed mesh, orbit the camera, use HDRI lighting, bake curl into a map, and export production-ready PNG sets plus OBJ or FBX meshes.
